I reported the lag to our host and they discovered that another user of this server was consuming too many resources.
The issue has now been resolved and the server is stable again.

On an unrelated note: Logging in and out of the forums will now bring you to the preview of our in-progress layout, which is an unintended side-effect caused by the upgrade.
This will, however, be an intended function once the new layout is ready for launch, so I can't be arsed to fix it for the current layout.
